Your patient is peri-menopausal and would like to use an herbal product, what do you recommend?
I need more facts to answer this question properly. What specific complaint is the patient having regarding perimenopause? Hot flashes? Night sweats? Mood swings? Vaginal dryness? There are many herbal supplements that suggest treatment of menopausal symptoms. Once I know what the symptoms are, I would recommend an herbal supplement that has standardized herbal preparations. Another important factor while considering an herbal supplement is possible interactions with a patients medications.
For the purpose of this assignment, I will say the patient is having hot flashes. The patient is not on any medications and is generally in good health. My recommendation is Black Cohosh.
