The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to individually summarize and to critically evaluate gathered source material (literary criticism articles or essays) Custom Essay
THE TASK: The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to individually summarize and to critically evaluate gathered source material (literary criticism articles or essays) on a single selected work or single author’s works we have read. Do not select O’Connor for the
bibliography. Locate ten critical essays (use the course web site links, the library, NCLIVE, etc.) on the selected work(s) we have
read. Do not summarize articles on works by that author we have not read or any biographical articles on the author. Strictly avoid
biographical information on the authors. Do not use Wikipedia or Sparks Notes or Grade Saver or other plot-based summaries on the web.
Construct an Annotated Bibliography for the source material. To construct the annotated bibliography, the student needs to follow the
five following steps and guidelines for each piece of source material (each article/essay):
1. correctly format each entry according to MLA works cited standards for that particular source.
2. Write a brief summary (6-10 sentences) of each source, including main idea and key supporting points.
3. Introduce/Integrate two pieces of quoted material from source into the summary. Single sentences or portions of sentences will
suffice.
4. Provide appropriate parenthetical documentation for quoted material.
5. Critically evaluate source (1-2 sentences).
