This assignment is in 2 parts. part 1 is a prewriting essay that doesn't have a page limit requirement, so it can be as short as 1 page. part 2 is the full paper that uses the prewriting from part 1. Part 2 is 3-4 pages minimum. The articles that are needed for this assignment can be accessed via the hyperlink in the word document that I attached with the assignment details. Your scenario must be original to you and this assignment. It cannot be from the discussion boards in this class or any other previous forum.
Articulate (and then assess) the ethical solutions that can found using "care" (care-based ethics) and "rights" ethics to those problems.
Assessment must ask if the solutions are flawed, practicable, persuasive, etc.

ANALYZING SOMEONE ELSE' ARGUMENT!

Part 1:
Please find an argument to analyze.  Be creative!  Some suggestions are to use a commercial, letter to the editor (or op/ed piece).  Analyze the argument you choose.

What is the main purpose of the argument?
Is it inductive?  Deductive?
Are there any fallacies being used?  If so, which ones?
Part 2:
Does the argument align with a philosophical theory or theorist? Choose one philosophical theory or theorist and explain from that perspective what you would change to make the argument better.  Think about the steps that you could use to improve the argument. For example, if you pick Socrates as a theorist think of how Socrates would reflect upon and engage the argument for change. 

Look for common fallacies like:
Circular thinking typically restating the premise in the conclusion and creating a circular argument
Appeals to authority generally this fallacy conside

The assignment is divided into two parts: the prewriting paper (Part 1) due this week, and the essay (Part 2) due in Week 5.

Overview
When looking for information about a particular issue, how often do you try to resist biases toward your own point of view?

This assignment asks you to engage in this aspect of critical thinking by playing the "Believing Game." The Believing Game is about making the effort to "believe," or at least consider, the reasons for an opposing view on an issue.
